Elena Botella is a writer living in Washington, D.C., exploring how Americans interact with the banking system.Her writing has appeared in American Banker, The Outline, The Charlotte Observer, and the Duke Chronicle, among other outlets.

Previously, Elena was a Senior Business Manager leading subprime credit limit increases at Capital One , where she also led a research agenda to improve the impact of lending decisions on the financial health of consumers. She studied Math and Economics at Duke University, graduating as an Angier B. Duke Scholar in 2013.
