Ashley Zheng was a Spring Intern at the D.C. Policy Center in 2020 and 2021. During her time at the Policy Center, she was a high school junior with an interest in education policy, especially in regards to promoting equity in education. To do her part to reduce learning disparities exacerbated by COVID-19, she has founded a free tutoring organization, Equity Learning, connecting K-6 students with high school volunteer tutors. As part of our Education Policy Initiative, Ashley researched various federal legislation, most notably the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds, to examine its current uses and future implications.
