Why is DC so hot? Meteorologists call the District a ‘heat island’ – Fox 5

On Monday, July 9th, 2018, Fox 5 featured maps from D.C. Policy Center Senior Fellow Randy Smith’s article “D.C.’s heat islands”.

There are some neighborhoods that feel hotter than others. The DC Policy Center’s map of the District shows how widely temps can vary across the city. Eastern parts of the District were much hotter than areas west.
