Amid concerns about the state of the child care sector now and in the future, the D.C. Policy Center’s Chelsea Coffin and Amanda Chu write that pandemic-related financial troubles could exacerbate an already constrained supply. Some 20% of previously operating facilities could end up shuttered. In the meantime, operators must navigate reduced capacity and new cleaning and safety protocols.
