Experts say National Guard housing deal is a ‘drop in the bucket’ for DC rentals | WTOP

On July 27, 2026, D.C. Policy Center Executive Director Yesim Sayin was quoted by WTOP on whether the National Guard’s contract to rent 2,000 units would have negative impact on the District:

If you had asked me this question five years ago, I would have been worried about the pressure on the housing market. But today, I welcome it. Just to put this number in scale, it’s less than 1%. So it’s a relatively small number of units.
